✨Introducing my characters and some infos about them!
Thought I should do this as my official first art post, so here we go!
✨Prince Mochi:
Mochi is an OC/fanchild I concepted in 2019 and his first design came out in 2021, and he is my current most favorite OC.
He is from a Kirby AU I am making for fun and laughs with a friend and her Kirby Gijinkas (I'll perhaps show it one day...)
He is described a "himbo" for being very handsome and respectful yet STOOPID, but that's what makes him charming and loved :"D
✨Chris the human
(👆 21 year-old Chris)
(👆A younger Chris when she was 19 years old)
Chris, just like Mochi, is from the Kirby AU I am making with my friend and her Kirby Gijinkas. She is considered a self-insert since she shares the same name as me and we look slightly the same (minus the lore-)
In the main story of the AU, she is the main heroine and is the second human of Dreamland (Adeleine being the first)
(......she's Mochi's mother in the future wink wink)
Another version of Chris is "Raspberry", based from the Hi-Fi Rush game!
✨Shadow Chris/Shadelle
(Shadelle's first appearance)
(Shadelle's true face)
Shadow Chris (or Shadelle) is the Mirror Counterpart of Chris, living in the Mirror World ruled by Shadow Dedede (And yes, she is from the same AU as Chris and Mochi)
Her first appearance is after the main story, more precisely, in its sequel. She appears as kind and sweet and helping, but in reality she is manipulative and wicked, unlike her "Light Counterpart".
(...let's say I have some friends who absolutely DESPITE her because of how evil she is <x))
✨Silvera Matter
Silvera is once again from the same AU as Chris, Mochi and Shadelle, and she is an artificially created Dark Matter from Hyper Zone, under Zero's orders.
Being the first Dark Matter that was created artificially, Silvera is different from the others. Her ice powers are a part of her, causing her skin to permanentaly be the same color as in livor mortis, and causing her body temperature to be extremely low, although it is normal for her.
She's Chris's rival in the AU's main story.
---
There is also my own Kirby Gijinkas but I am redesigning some of them so I'll show them once they are done! :"D
(If you have any questions about my characters or Kirby Gijinkas, my ask box is open! Don't be shy, feel free to ask anything!)

This worked for me (WHY did this work for me?)
***spoilers*** [I know - ref a 2019 TV movie, does anyone care? Well, on the off-chance they do... Also, given the troperiffic nature of these movies, does it really count as spoilering elements that anyone Familiar With The Genre would be arriving, expecting in advance? Again, on the assumption that it's polite to say so, I'll - say so.]
It's the middle of the summer holidays in the UK so there is probably a law against watching Christmas movies but I am having a summer of jigsaw puzzles and loafing, and Amazon thought I might like this one and, somewhat to my astonishment, I really, REALLY did.
I'm a tricky audience for a Hallmark romcom because I ought to be their perfect viewer but I'm slightly too fond of grit and ambiguity and slightly too ready to throw my remote across the room when the characters do things that are too inauthentic or implausible or mean or stoopid. I think we can blame Georgette Heyer, whose heroines regularly got themselves into highly implausible scrapes but the writing carried me through. Apparently it's not whether I believe the scenarios (I'm fine with suspending disbelief) but give me witty, gritty characters who make plausible choices and only behave in limp ways if they're the plot device that gets the main action going, elsewhere.
I call to the stand -
Devil's Cub (heroine pretends to be her sister and while doing so is consequently ruined, kidnapped and taken on a trip to France where she nonetheless holds her own and is practically never Victimish)
The Corinthian (where the hero, returning home drunk, comes across the heroine escaping from her townhouse disguised as a boy and on a whim accompanies her/him back to her/his estate in the country)
Lots of ingredients in this movie I generally find myself objecting to - and I'm now realising it's about execution/script more than concept.
Things I generally react against but which I was able to go with here:
The heroine is successful but unhappy in a desirable Big World job but comes from a small town and returns home for Reasons.
She gets stuck in her old home town for Reasons (snow on the pass).
She has an ex-boyfriend who still lives in the town and they Have Unresolved History.
There's a Christmas Event she needs to get involved with.
She needs to Change Something about her current life and the time she accidentally spends in Home Town helps her figure this out.
Soooo WHY DID THIS ONE WORK (for me)?
Well, partly, cast chemistry - I believed the mother/daughter relationship. I believed the healing of the broken rels in the town. And I believed the restoration of the relationship with the Dishy Ex.
And - some good, small-scale choices (by which I mean, things that don't matter either way for the plot resolution). Like - she's a huge Country star and so it makes sense that her ex-best-friend's kids are a bit star struck by her. The girl, at least. I mean, they would be, right?
And - I've mentioned the writing? I feel like they say things to each other that real humans might actually say (okay, as well as all the things they say to each other that real humans wouldn't say but which are permissible under the Suspension of Disbelief During Consumption of a RomCom Act of i-just-made-that-one-up).
For example, at one point [okay, okay, in the middle of the movie when they've very quickly forgotten they were at odds with each other for a decade and have gone back to getting on well] instead of just pushing the You Left Me line, the Marcus Rosner character tells the Megan Hilty character that he's proud of all she achieved.
<3 this and darn straight - she's a bone fide Country Superstar.
Resolution - allows her to find her way back to people and community without giving up on her singing career. She buys the theatre, enabling the not-ex-for-much-longer boyfriend's community arts dream to move forward, but rather than Giving Up Fame, says that it will become her "touring base". (That makes sense -why not?).
There's also an arc about the dead father which I felt Switzerland (neutral) about - but I liked the way the movie handled the implications for mother/daughter rel as they move on from this loss.
In conclusion: no-one is The Big Evil, no-one descends into Lunatic Scheming, even the manager is just doing his job and Has A Heart.
The enemy isn't really an enemy - more a question or dilemma. What matters? Can we live the life we dream of and also stay in touch with people who are or who have been important to us? How to pick a way through our choices when it seems that perhaps we can't have it all.
==============================================
PS I'm not apologising about the jigsaw thing BTW. I think they're a perfect anxiety hack - at least, they're a perfect anxiety hack For Me.
I discovered this for the first time two Christmases ago, the Christmas of The Big Family Bust-Up when I was down in a dark and stormy Wales feeling pretty dark and stormy on the inside as well and not in the fun, cocktail-quaffing sense. S figured out that this might work for me and I was astonished to find he was Dead Right. This is S who I don't typically think of as someone with huge levels of empathy (um, wonderful in many ways but that is NOT his lead suit).
For *me* jigsaws absorb a perfect amount of cognitive focus - for other people, this might be the focus required for landscape painting or making jewellery, playing chess or bird/train-spotting. AND at the end of the day, it's an activity that simply doesn't matter. So calming.

Gatsby in Paris French chansons & jazz standards from the 20s to the 40s Feat.Chloé Perrier & French Heart Band - Club Bonafide January 25, 2019 - New York
Gatsby in Paris: French Chansons & Jazz Standards From the '20s to the '40s, featuring enchanting French singer Chloé Perrier and her new band, the French Heart Jazz Band. This irrepressibly charming show is a mix of French chansons and American jazz standards from the '20s to the '40s with a continental flare. Chloé sings an intriguing mix of jazz, chanson, Brazilian and occasionally Romany-tinged numbers in French, as well as in English. The group is known for its reinvention of the old chestnut "My Heart Belongs to Daddy" as a bolero-tinged Twin Peaks theme, an obscure '20s hot jazz tune that Perrier had found in a history book, and the classic "La Vie en Rose." Come to Club Bonafide in New York City and listen as exes get dissed and relationships gone wrong are dissected and remembered through glasses that aren't exactly rose-colored.
La Vie En Rose: An Elegant & Tasteful Blend Of American Jazz, French Chanson & Pop Music. Feat. Violette - Club Bonafide January 25, 2019 - New York
Jazz-influenced French indie singer/songwriter Violette comes to Club Bonafide in New York City. Born in Paris and raised in a small village on an island off the French Atlantic Coast, and now making her home in Brooklyn, Violette has clearly been influenced by such French luminaries as Jacques Brel and Edith Piaf, but Ella Fitzgerald, Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson have also had a hand in the development of her sophisticated pop sound. Her most recent album, 2014's Falling Strong, showcases a collection of originals that, although rooted in jazz, reflect the young artist's eclectic range of influences from pop to rock and R&B. Upbeat and sassy, sensual and intimate, her soulful voice immerses you in emotion. Violette Raised in Ars-en-Re, a small village on an island off the French Atlantic Coast, and now making her home in Brooklyn, NY, singer-songwriter Violette began her musical journey at an early age, taking up the piano at five and later learning percussion while studying at the Conservatory. Her musical endeavors were clearly colored by influences from such French luminaries as Jacques Brel and Edith Piaf but quickly found her tastes and palette ranging much farther th... (read more)

She later signed to Mercury Nashville in 2012 and released two critically acclaimed albums on the label, Same Trailer Different Park (2013) and Pageant Material (2015).[9][10] Her first Christmas-themed album, A Very Kacey Christmas, was released on October 28, 2016.[11] Her third studio album, Golden Hour, was released on March 30, 2018, to widespread critical acclaim.[12]
Belén Cusi - The Groove January 25, 2019 - New York

Piano Jazz Series: Bruce Barth Trio - Zinc Bar January 25, 2019 - New York
One of the best pianists in town, period."—The Village Voice Acclaimed jazz pianist Bruce Barth brings his trio to the Zinc Bar for a splendid evening of jazz piano on Friday, January 25. He's supported by bassist Dave Baron and drummer Pete Van Nostrand. Jazz pianist and composer Bruce Barth has been sharing his music with listeners the world over for more than two decades. Deeply rooted in the jazz tradition, his music reflects both the depth and breadth of his life and musical experiences. In addition to traveling widely performing his own music, he has also performed with revered jazz masters, as well as collaborated with leading musicians of his own generation. And most notably, his performances feature material from his large book of very powerful and imaginative original compositions, written in a voice that is both deeply personal and expressive. In a recent review in the Newark Star-Ledger, Zan Stewart writes "No one sounds quite like Barth. His solos are characterized by robust swing, his ability to tell a story, and by his rich, beguiling sound." Bruce has performed on over one hundred recordings and movie soundtracks, including ten as a leader. He is equally at home ... (read more)

Life of a Legend: Carmen de Lavallade - Dizzy's Club Coca Cola Through January 25, 2019 - New York
A singular icon graces The Appel Room in this special Life of a Legend performance. Dancer, actor, and choreographer Carmen de Lavallade has a unique gift for movement, and her groundbreaking dance concepts have inspired artists and audiences for generations. Tonight we celebrate de Lavallade's love of both dance and jazz, revisiting some of the iconic dance works she performed with jazz musicians. Though she has long been a star on Broadway and in Hollywood, Shakespearean theater, and many genres of dance—including ballets choreographed for her by the likes of Lester Horton, Agnes de Mille, and Geoffrey Holder—her roots in jazz run especially deep. She improvised dances with Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Bill Evans, and Jane Ira Boom. She brought Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington to tears in 1960 with her embodiment of Billie Holiday in "Portrait of Billie"—a piece that de Lavallade performed with a friend whom she brought to the dance world: Alvin Ailey. De Lavallade's artistry goes so much deeper than technical mastery; she approaches dance as an act of storytelling, a transfixing form of communication that she still achieves with grace at age 87. De Lavallade was named ... (read more)
French Jazz & Tango Celebrating Piaf, Brel, Aznavour & Piazzolla - Club Bonafide January 26, 2019 - New York
Celebrating Piaf, Brel, Aznavour & Piazzolla Few things are more distinctly French that the music of Edith Piaf, Jacques Brel and Charles Aznavour. These and other Gallic icons are the focus of From Paris With Love, a musical homage to the City of Lights from the duo Yael & Gabriel. Yael Dray-Barel is a French/Israeli singer/songwriter influenced by rock and gypsy jazz, and her songs often incorporate the five languages she speaks. Argentinian guitarist Gabriel Hermida infuses his compositions with the essence of classical tango, flamenco and contemporary jazz. Together, the pair will salute such timeless French songs as "La Vie en Rose," "Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien" and "Hymne a L'Amour, along with work from Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla, at Club Bonafide in New York City

Wadada Leo Smith: America's National Parks - Dizzy's Club Coca Cola January 26, 2019 - New York
For one night only, witness the live New York debut of Wadada Leo Smith's America's National Parks. When Smith recorded this visionary suite in 2016, it was voted Album of the Year by DownBeat magazine (Smith also won Artist of the Year and Trumpeter of the Year), and it was selected as a top-ten album of the year by the New York Times and NPR. Though the music alone is worthy of its critical acclaim, nothing compares to the live, multimedia concert experience of America's National Parks. Visual projections blend real-time footage of the five-piece band with moving images of each song's subject, marrying improvised music with historic photography in a powerful and collaborative vision. If you've ever wanted to dip your toes into the more avant-garde side of jazz, experiencing this show in person would be a compelling way to start. Topics range from established, natural national parks (Yellowstone, Yosemite) to pointed subjects of historical and cultural significance ("New Orleans: The National Cultural Park USA 1718," "Eileen Jackson Southern, 1920–2002: A Literary National Park"). It's a thought-provoking and entirely wordless journey that conveys both the grandeur and sense... (read more)

Vijay Iyer's Ritual Ensemble - Jazz Standard January 27, 2019 - New York
The Ritual Ensemble blends the improvisatory traditions of jazz with those of Indian classical music, with the singular voice of Ganavya Doraiswamy at the forefront. "Ganavya creates a lush twine out of American and South Asian traditions, and on Aikyam: Onnu, this vocalist and scholar's majestic debut album, the upshot feels more like an expansive invitation than any definable hybrid…No matter the language or the content, Ganavya's voice is a thick ephemera, like smoke as dark as ink, just coming off the fire." (Jon Pareles, New York Times, 5.4.2018) DownBeat's "Jazz Artist of the Year" for two years running and a 2013 recipient of a MacArthur Foundation fellowship, Vijay Iyer is among the most freely creative and forward–thinking musicians of our time. The Justin Rothberg Group - Funk - Silvana January 27, 2019 - New York
We try to explore a variety of different styles of music. While the group is firmly dedicated to jazz, we try to stay as open minded as possible. Songs are influenced by hiphop, funk, dub reggae, Latin, world music, and anything else the band has been listening to. To keep the music from sounding stiff, everyone tries to trust each other's musical taste. Even though I write all of the tunes, it's still a very open vibe on stage. No matter what song the band is playing, we're always open to experimentation.

Donny Mccaslin - Village Vanguard Through January 27, 2019 - New York
Donny McCaslin (tenor sax) Jason Lindner (piano) Nate Wood (bass) Mark Giuliana (drums) The group has a bedrock relationship with groove, but also a genius for permutation: Mr. Guiliana chops up the beat in deft, destabilizing ways, and Mr. Lindner, favoring a Wurlitzer electric piano with pedal effects, brings welcome grit and woozy atmosphere. Mr. McCaslin seems to have direct access to emotional expression in his playing, as if it were a valve he could open at will. He's exceptionally sure-footed with his phrasing, almost never caught off balance, but he knows how to convey risk or fury through the compressed force of his tone.

A superb, mostly self–taught musician, drummer Jimmy Cobb is the elder statesman of the incredible Miles Davis bands of the 1950s and early '60s. New York Spring & Summer Music Festivals to Get Excited for in 2019
Festival season is upon us! With both weekends of Coachella out of the way and Austin City Limits having just announced its line-up for the fall, those days of great music and memories under the sun are no longer a distant thought.
Living in New York, you don’t have to go far to find some of the summer’s hottest festivals. Between the world-renown Governor’s Ball and Electric Zoo festivals, the summer-long city-sponsored Summerstage and Celebrate Brooklyn shows and the localized and smaller festivals, New York will be bursting with live music this summer.
Vinyl Bay 777, Long Island’s music outlet, is gearing up for festival season by bringing you a list of the New York music festivals to keep on your radar. Check out these 10 for the ultimate summer of music!
1. Red Bull Music Festival: Red Bull’s annual festival showcasing one-of-a-kind performances from an eclectic array of new and established artists started this week with two performances from Latina singer Rosalia on Tuesday and there’s still a lot to look forward to. The multi-venue, nearly month-long showcase boasts performances from JPEGMAFIA, Tierra Whack, FKA Twigs, Teyana Taylor and more, including a special premiere of Holly Herndon’s upcoming concept album ‘Proto.’ (Now-5/18)
2. Governors Ball: With Panorama skipping the 2019 festival season, Governors Ball is once again the biggest three-day event in the city. New York’s indie answer to Coachella, the festival draws in people from all across the country and globe for a line-up that features the biggest names in music today. This year boasts headlining performances from Tyler, The Creator, Lil Wayne, Florence + The Machine, The 1975, Major Lazer, Nas and The Strokes with more than 70+ artists playing in total. That’s not to mention the “After Dark” pre and post festival shows scattered around the city. (5/31-6/2)
3. Summerstage: Once again expanding beyond its original home in Central Park, City Parks Summerstage provides an entire summers-worth of eclectic live music and dance choices ranging from rock, pop and hip-hop to jazz and classical at parks throughout the five boroughs, many of which are free to attend. Some of this year’s highlights include free sets from Big Freedia, the Aussie BBQ festival, Japanese Breakfast, Alvvays, Lisa Lisa, Jody Watley, EPMD, Corinne Bailey Rae, The Mountain Goats, Talib Kweli and The Wailers, as well as benefit shows with George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Kurt Vile, Guster, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Bloc Party and The B-52s. More shows are still being added, taking the festivities into the fall. (6/1-10/1)
4. BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn!: In addition to Summerstage, Brooklyn’s Prospect Park has its own summer-long mostly free festival. Celebrate Brooklyn takes place at the park’s historic bandshell, this year’s eclectic performers include free sets from Patti LaBelle, Calexico with Iron & Wine, Liz Phair and Ted Leo and the Pharmacists and Bomba Estereo, and benefit shows from The National and Courtney Barnett, Father John Misty and Jason Isbell and Mac Demarco. (6/4-8/10)
5. Make Music New York: Not your typical music festival, Make Music New York is a musical celebration that takes place during the summer solstice every year. Modeled after France’s Fête de la Musique, musicians of all levels are encouraged to “take center stage and share their skills and passions through live performances in public plazas and parks, on sidewalks and in front of shops, and in partnership with cultural institutions and businesses across all five boroughs.” Some of the special events you can witness/participate in include folk hootenanny Porch Stomp, underground punk happening Punk Island and Mass Appeal sets with many musicians playing one kind of instrument. (6/21)
6. Warped Tour: Warped Tour may officially be over as a touring festival, but that doesn’t mean it’s over. Like many expected, Kevin Lyman brought the name back to celebrate what would have been its 25th season. Instead of a summer of touring, the new incarnation includes three large-scale festivals, including one right on the beach in Atlantic City. Many of the festival’s most influential alumni will be playing, including 311, Andrew W.K., Bad Religion, Bowling For Soup, Blink-182, Glassjaw, Good Charlotte, Less Than Jake, The Offspring, Reel Big Fish, Shiragirl, Taking Back Sunday, Thrice, The Starting Line, We The Kings and more. (6/29-6/30)
7. Great South Bay Music Festival: Long Island’s biggest bay side festival is back for another year. The Great South Bay Music Festival boast four unique days of music paying homage to the island’s musical heritage. Thursday features the return of LI pop-punk darlings Taking Back Sunday to the fest, along with Glassjaw, The Menzingers, Frank Iero and more. Friday gets a more ska-tinged vibe with headlining sets from Sublime with Rome, Slightly Stoopid, Soja and local favorites Oogie Wawa. Saturday features Lotus, Dweezil Zappa, Assembly Of Dust and more, as well as a tribute to Woodstock. Finally, on Sunday War will be celebrating their 50th anniversary with America and the Edgar Winter Band. This has always been a great festival with good music and a killer vibe. (7/18-7/21)
8. Woodstock 50 (If It Happens): This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Woodstock Festival, an event that captured the love & peace movement of the late 1960s. For this special occasion, original co-organizer Michael Lang has put together a festival blending original Woodstock artists and values with today’s biggest artists and initiatives. Some of the artists headlining the bill include The Killers, Miley Cyrus, Santana, Robert Plant, Dead & Company, Chance The Rapper, Greta Van Fleet, Portugal. The Man, Jay-Z, Imagine Dragons, Cage The Elephant, Canned Heat, Hot Tuna and The Zombies. There has been some controversy over the last week as to whether or not this event will actually take place or be completely cancelled. If it doesn’t happen, the Bethel Woods Performing Arts Center, where Woodstock originally took place, will be holding a series of events celebrating the anniversary, including performances from Ringo Starr, Edgar Winter Band, Blood Sweat & Tears, Santana, the Doobie Brothers and John Fogerty. (8/16-8/18)
9. Afropunk: Since 2005, the Afropunk Festival has been showcasing the alternative side of black culture and music. The New York edition boasts an array of established and up-and-coming artists at the intersection of punk, rock, hip-hop, R&B, blues and jazz. Some of this year’s notable names include Jill Scott, FKA Twigs, Leon Bridges, Kamasi Washington, Gary Clark Jr., Santigold, Toro Y Moi, Nao, Death Grips, Danny Brown and The Suffers. (8/24-8/25)
10. Electric Zoo: Evolved: One of the biggest electronic music festivals in the world, Electric Zoo returns to Randall’s Island in 2019 with a stellar line-up of today’s hottest DJs. Artists include Armin Van Buuren, Benny Benassi, Skrillex/Boys Noize collaboration Dog Blood, Afrojack, Alison Wonderland, Cash Cash, Kaskade, Zedd, R3hab and more.(8/30-9/1)
Festival season is here and New York is the perfect place to experience it all. From general popular music festivals and summer-long events to those that cater to a specific fandom or throw genre out the window altogether, New York will be showcasing some of the best in music and culture that the world has to offer. Consider some of the festivals above when planning your summer activities and let us know what festivals you’re excited for in the comments below.

Slightly Stoopid News.
Save the Date.
Berkeley August 3
Greek Theater 🎭
Slightly Stoopid announce their annual summer amphitheater tour, with this years installment:
“How I Spent My Summer Vacation 2019”. This summer, Slightly Stoopid will bring along special guests Matisyahu, Tribal Seeds and HIRIE.
2019’s North American route will take the band on 28 stops from California’s Pacific Ocean across the Atlantic seaboard, with additional dates to be announced including stops in Europe.
Slightly Stoopid fan presale is underway and runs through Thursday 2/28, 10pm local time. All tickets purchased through the Slightly Stoopid fan presale are entered to win a backstage experience and meet & greet with the band.
As Slightly Stoopid’s organic fanbase continues to grow exponentially, prolific studio releases and relentless live touring has fueled the band’s passion for their craft, manifesting a unique and dedicated subculture. In an interview with Pollstar last year, Miles Doughty said that “the thrill of performance is what keeps the band on the road” and Billboard affirms that “Slightly Stoopid are showing no signs of slowing down”.
Two decades into the process, Ocean Beach San Diego natives, Slightly Stoopid, have created a lifestyle movement of die-hard “Stoopidheads” and a catalogue of musical work that reflects their influences musically and socially.
“Once we found music as a form of expression, as an outlet, we did whatever it took to survive. We are who we are- a product of Southern California. And, we are where we are in life because of how passionate we are about the music.”
- Kyle McDonald (bass, guitar, vocals - Slightly Stoopid)
